Pushcart Nominations

Late Friday (Oct 29, 2010) to early Tuesday (Nov 2, 2010), a cascade of good news occurred:

New Silver Blade Poetry Editor, John C. Mannone, receives nominations for two Pushcart Prizes in Poetry for 2010. “Scales of Ice, Rails of Fire” (Liquid Imagination, Spring 2010, Issue 6) and “Amberlee’s Ocean,” which introduces a collection of short stories, Yarns for Our Youth (ed. Chris Bartholomew, Static Movement, August 2010), are both literary fantasy cross-genre poems. Please visit Silver Blade’s poetry page to read his introductory letter.

It is noteworthy that during the same time period, two other nice surprises happened: “Cemetery” (Eclectic Flash, Spring 2010, page 20), an ars poetica literary poem with a zombie metaphor, has been selected for the Best of EF 2010 anthology due out January 2011 and “The Making of a Soldier” was accepted in the 1989-established venue, Mobius: The Journal of Social Change. It will appear in December or March.

The previous year, “Hauntings,” which had won first place in the Sixth Inglis House Poetry Contest in June, received the nomination for the 2009 Pushcart Prize in Poetry. The poem is published in She Asks For Slippers While Pointing at the Salt (The Inglis House Poetry Workshop, 2009) and appears online in the June 2009 issue of Wordgathering: A Journal of Disability Poetry.
